UNT Day at the Capitol
Join us in Austin to make a difference.
February 21, 2023
UNT Day at the Capitol is a unique opportunity for students, alumni, faculty and staff to gather in Austin and tell Texas’ legislators about the incredible research and learning opportunities that set UNT apart. It’s a chance to show the impact more than 42,000 students and 224,534 UNT alumni in Texas have on our state. It’s our time to turn Austin Mean Green!
Attendees will be placed on teams to visit with lawmakers and advocate for increased state funding that will help our students and programs thrive. Students and alumni from all majors and backgrounds are encouraged to participate.

About The Day Of
Students and alumni will have the option to ride a bus from Denton to Austin, or they may choose to be responsible for their own transportation. Buses will leave early — around 5 a.m. — and will return the same evening. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided for attendees riding the buses. Lunch will be provided for all attendees.
All volunteers are required to attend a training meeting (several in-person and virtual options will be provided) and sign a Memorandum of Understanding acknowledging their willingness to represent UNT and its approved messaging when meeting with legislators. *
The UNT Alumni Association will assemble teams and assign specific legislators to visit. Background information about legislators will be provided, as well as detailed talking points for volunteers.
* The UNT Alumni Association reserves the right to refuse participation to any volunteer.
Can’t attend but still want to be involved?
Even if you can’t make it to Austin with us, you can still speak up for your university! Writing letters to your state legislators is an important part of advocating for UNT and a simple but impactful way to make your voice heard.
